Woman Claims She Doesn't Eat Food, Instead She "Breathes" Energy
Who Is Audra Bear?

Audra Bear is a 25-year-old woman from Minneapolis, Minnesota who recently gained online fame, when she started to claim she was practicing something called ‘Breatharianism’. At the moment she has 14.3k Instagram followers who believe in her ideas and support her. She is basically an online lifestyle coach who shows us all the glory of life without chewing food.
What is Breatharianism?

Breatharianism, or Inedia, is a belief that life without food, and sometimes even without water, is possible. Breatharians believe that we can live without eating and drinking and that people can live by using a thing called ‘prana’. Prana is the vital source of life in Hinduism, and there are various Hindu religious documents that show that many saints and hermits were practicing breatharianism. Among others, in one document was written, ‘’those…whose food the wave of air supplies’’, and, ‘’ten thousand years on air he fed’’.

Based on all these facts, people of the 21st century believe that Breatharianism is the right choice for them, even though it is a scientific fact that humans need water and solid food in order to survive. Audra Bear is among those who are trying to disprove this fact, and she uses her social media to make a point, making it all look very simple and not dangerous at all.
Early IG Life

If you scroll down her Instagram, you will notice that her goal wasn’t always to spread the Breatharian word. In fact, her profile was typical for a 20-something-year old girl, enjoying her normal life. Believe it or not, she still has some food pictures on her profile. Yes, solid food like peaches, bananas, cucumbers, lettuce, and other fruits and vegetables. She even ate ice-cream, can you imagine that? But I guess that after a while she decided she didn’t need those “toxins” in her life.
The First Post

One thing is for sure, Audra was always claiming that her lifestyle was extremely healthy, until one day she decided to make it even more healthier. Sometime in January, she started posting pictures and videos which hinted about her new life journey that she was on with her boyfriend. They introduced the idea that we need nothing but air and nature to live a happy life.
First YouTube Video

Instagram is not the only platform that Audre Bear uses to promote herself. She also has a YouTube channel named Simply Audre Bear, which has around 2k subscribers. She started uploading there about 8 months ago, and her very first video was about breathing. She gives us just a brief glance at how we should breathe properly. It is interesting that there are zero comments on the video.
Inspirational Quotes

Through her Instagram, you can find different quotes and book recommendations, which she believes can help you improve your life. Therefore, if you are on a hunt for a good healthy lifestyle and inspiring words, Audra’s profile has got you covered. That’s how she’s been trying to show the world that she is more than just a pretty face.
How to Breathe

If for one reason or another, you maybe don’t know how to breathe, Audre Bear comes to the rescue. She says that there are four different exercises that help our breathing. The first exercise is Healing Sounds, which includes six different sounds you can express. She shows us how to exhale and inhale in detail, and how to give yourself an organ massage. Her explanations are very thorough, and it is easy to follow them.

The second exercise is ‘’Fast Breaths’’, within which you should breathe fast in five different ways. The name of the next exercise is Pranayama, which helps you learn how to use only one nostril during breathing. And here we were thinking that we have two nostrils for a reason. The last and the easiest exercise is ‘’Silent Breaths’’, and again if you don’t know how to do it, there is a demonstration of each step.

The entire session takes about 40 minutes, and Audra Bear says that if you do the session every day, your life will be better and you will feel stronger and calmer. So, maybe if you have 40 minutes a day, and you would like to try something new, and you are interested in breathing (aren’t we all?), then these exercises might be a good choice for you.
A New Beginning

Five days after she had begun doing these breathing sessions, Audra Bear noticed that she no longer felt the need to eat dense food. Previously she was a raw vegan, and health was the most important thing for her, so she was trying out various diets in order to find the perfect one. Yet, she always loved food, and she had never thought about quitting food, but breathing exercises opened a new chapter in her life.
A Pranic Lifestyle

Audra Bear calls her new way of living ‘Pranic’, named after prana that is another word for energy. The concept is that we can receive all we need to survive from things that surround us, such as the sunshine, nature, and even people around us. The main focus of the Pranic lifestyle is to start nourishing your body with energy sources, and not with dense food. Therefore, Audra tries to stay away from solid food because inhaling air is enough for her.
The Longest Fast Ever

After adopting her new lifestyle, Audra Bear started the longest fast ever. Allegedly, she endured 97 days without solid food. Her main meal was air, and for dessert, she only had tea, juice and a smoothie. During the fast, she lost five pounds and claimed she had never felt more energetic and happier, and that her mental clarity was at the highest level.
The Way We Do It

If you are wondering how she managed to survive the fast, her YouTube video can give you all the answers. She recorded a QA video with her boyfriend, who is also a supporter of ‘We don’t need solid food’ movement. For them, food is breathing, dancing, sunbathing, having a conversation, laughing, and also making money, so they can never be hungry. Remember, only chewing food is not an option, everything else provides nourishment.

In the video, she says that during the fast she only drinks herbal teas, coconut water, and smoothies, but adds that she can even live without that because she isn’t hungry at all. They think that people eat to define themselves, and that eating is a bad habit, and we don’t actually need food. So, people, the next time you eat, consider if you really need food, or if you eat just for fun. Who knows, we may have lived in a lie our whole life.

Audra also says that the entire process of fasting is extremely emotional, and overwhelming, because now when she has more energy, she rediscovers her personality every day, and sometimes doesn’t know what to do with it. Both of them claim that they don’t have any urge to eat, because they are breathing, creating, and playing. However, from time to time, they like to look at the food and smell it. Overall, the video is full of different shenanigans, and it is up to you to believe it or not.
Her Usual Day

As stated previously, it is not only enough to breathe, but you also have to breathe a certain way so that the air can be your food. Every day when she wakes up, Audre Bear starts her day with a breathwork session, she does 45 minutes of conscious slow diaphragmatic breathing. After that she does yoga, goes outside to sunbathe, does some more breathwork, and then spends time in nature, where she receives cosmic energy. Audra travels a lot in order to get inspired in various places and to gain more energy from different places and people. Occasionally, she eats solid food, but only when she is at family gatherings.
How to make your own juice?

One more useful advice is on the way. If you don’t know how to make juice without a juicer, Audra’s YouTube channel is the perfect place for you. She offers a tutorial that shows you how to make watermelon juice. Long video short, chop the watermelon, put slices in the blender, turn on the blender, and voila, here’s your watermelon juice, and now you can start with your liquidarian life.
The More You Breathe, The Less You Need

This statement is the main mantra that Audre Bear lives by. Her main aim is to inspire people to live healthily, and her definition of health is a bit debatable. She is proud because thanks to her, many people accept the idea of breatharianism, which, in her opinion, represents a spiritual and physical journey. She thinks that the majority of people don’t breathe properly and that we are not connected to our bodies. We don’t need a snack. All we need is a deep breath.

According to Audra Bear, our emotions are not just thoughts. They are physical things we store in different areas of the body. Her opinion is that people don’t know how to cope with these emotions, and that’s why they eat, so for example, if we’re craving sweet food, we’re lacking love. She emphasizes that food isn’t a bad thing, but if you can avoid it, good for you, and eventually the hunger will go away.
Breathe with Her

Well, I guess that the air isn’t really free. On her website, Audra offers you the opportunity to have a session with her. You can choose between three options, depending on what you need, and how much money you are willing to give. During the sessions, you will allegedly heal your body and your mind, and learn to release all tension and stress. If these things are your cup of tea, visit her website and book a session.
Reset Yourself

One of the programs that Audra Bear generously offers is ‘40 Days of Cleanse’, which is an ultimate nutrition program that helps you detoxify your body. This regime saves you time and provides you with all the nutrition you need in order to be the healthiest you can, and of course, all the products are organic. The program involves a lot of supplements as well, which are allegedly better than some food you can actually eat. So again, if you are into these types of things, check it out, but of course, everything comes with a price, and the price of this program is around $400.
Breatharian Levels

Audra believes that it is possible to live only from the air and that you don’t need food or water, yet she personally hasn’t gone that far. She says that there are four levels of Breatharianism; the first level has people who are aware that there is such a thing as Pranic energy, and maybe have tried to fast for a couple of days. The second level includes people who go on extended fasts, 10 to 40 days, and for them, fasting is a part of their regular routine.

The next Breatharian level is someone who eats and drinks every once in a while, mostly during the occasional social situations. Finally, the last and the most outrageous level is level four Breatharian who is somebody who does not drink water and eat food, they live fully energized life just by breathing. She also claims that she knows a few people who live this way. So, forget the science, because the Breatharians have all the answers.
Audra’s Food Journey

Audra Bear has always been very picky about food, and she has been on the lookout for the perfect diet. Her lifestyle is about reduction, and about taking away one thing at a time when you feel that you don’t need a certain product anymore. In the beginning, she stopped eating animal products, after that cooked food, then solid food, and now she only eats liquid food, that she consumes on a daily basis. She still doesn’t feel the need to be a level four Breatharian, but for now, she is a proud Liquidarian.
Radio Confession

In an interview for The Edge, Audra Bear explains the point of her new lifestyle, and says that she hardly ever eats food. So, not never, but hardly ever, so does that make her a cheater or not? She talks about her appearance as well and says her weight is perfectly normal and healthy, there’s no reason for concern. She hasn’t felt hunger for nine months, because every day she does those breathing exercises for two or three hours. She must have plenty of free time.
I Am Not a Bad Role Model

We live in a world with so many different eating disorders that affect young people, so does she send them a bad message? Audra doesn’t think so, on the contrary, she reckons that her way of living is not negative and that her lifestyle is about loving and celebrating yourself. What do you think, is this a dangerous thing to promote?
A Word of Advice

If you can not answer that question, as scientist certainly can. They strongly advise against following a Breatharian diet because it is not possible to survive as a Breatharian. One doctor says that if you are to follow Breatharianism in the strictest sense, death will be quicker. Overall, if you are looking for a new diet, be sure to consult your doctor, so that your health is always safe.
